Welcome to My Southwest… New Year's Day in Sedona 2011

Snow in Sedona- photo by Sandra Hoopes

There’s no recipe to post today.  I didn’t cook a thing this weekend.

Not even toast.

I thought you’d rather come along with me and see the most beautiful place in the Southwest… Sedona.

In the snow.

When it snows around here, you’ve got to move fast.  Just drop what you are doing … and go!

That’s what we did this weekend.

Threw a change of clothes and a toothbrush into the car and drove to Sedona.

Quick!  Don’t miss it!

The harshness seems to bring out the beauty in everything.

Like a giant western wedding cake.

Even thorns that clung to my legs as a child,

Still clinging,

Holding on for spring.

I often wonder why I stay in Arizona.

The 122° summers, the dust, the Diamondbacks…

(the baseball team, not the snakes.  Well, ok, the snakes too)

But, if I’m patient,

if I wait,

I  get a small glimpse of this…

Wow, beautiful! I too live in the desert in Twentynine Palms, Ca and I love it when it snows here.

The desert is beautiful with snow. It didn’t stay on the saguaros long enough to get a good photo.
Didn’t Robert Plant record a song about Twentynine Palms?

So pretty, it looks peaceful. Cooking/baking can wait, you don’t get experiences like this everyday.

      Sandra,
I agree, the cooking can wait. Or, at least the dishes part! I’m glad you liked the photos. Sedona is my favorite place… anytime of the year.
