Listen! Can you hear it? The ice cream man is coming! Nothing makes kids freeze in their tracks faster than the faint music from the ice cream truck coming down the street, getting louder and building excitement as it draws near. Perhaps that excitement is why ice cream is still my favorite summertime dessert. It doesn't really matter what flavor—strawberry, mango or just plain vanilla—ice cream is always on the menu for our family's backyard BBQ's.
Many of you have asked for a quick and easy way to find some of our most popular recipes. Ice cream is definitely on our list of most searched for recipes so, I've put together the links to the ice cream recipes that are already here on Everyday Southwest and I will update this page with more links as the summer goes on and we come up with new family favorites.
Everyday Southwest Favorite Ice Cream Recipes
Mango Sorbet Recipe is not just our top searched ice cream recipe, it is in the top 5 of all of our recipes. The Mango Sorbet Recipe itself is fast and easy. Just throw the mango chucks in the food processor and hit "frappé" (I have been known to use diced, frozen mango to save even more time with less clean up). Add the other ingredients, mix and pour into an ice cream maker. It's that easy.
Note: If you want to make it into the Mango Sorbet Dreamsicle Dessert (top photo above) with vanilla ice cream in the middle, it will take extra time and dry ice. You can just layer the mango sorbet and store bought vanilla ice cream in a loaf pan and freeze instead. It is much faster that way and still looks impressive when you turn it out and slice it.
