No, this isn't a recipe for lizards. We don't eat lizards in the Southwest (that I know of anyway). But, I did want to share a fun picture that I took in my very own backyard for Earth Day. That's right, "Actual Nature!" This lovely Southwest creature is a chuckwalla. He lives in the space between our wall along with his family. Judging from his size, he is the teenager of the family. There are much larger parents in our yard, also. Notice how well he he blends with the rust on our fence. We meant to do that.
Check out these Arizona beauties!
Now for the food part of my post. I thought you would like to see where those delicious dandelion greens in your bag of spring mix salad greens come from. My hubby and I have been so busy that we haven't been able to do the weeding lately and the dandelions have taken over our yard! It's not quite as bad as one of those 1950's monster movies. Not yet, anyway.
So, if you are ever asked, "Mommy, where do dandelions come from?" You can tell them, "From Sandy's backyard."
Hope everyone had a Happy Earth Day!
Sandy
